The Partnerships Office guides and strengthens the establishment, management, monitoring and evaluation of partnerships at all levels. With a focus on improving expertise, effectiveness and efficiency, the office promotes capacity building and mentoring for staff as well as for partner scientists and institutions.
Prof. August Temu
Director of Partnerships
Prof. Temu leads the Partnerships Directorate at the World Agroforestry Centre. Previously he served as a professor at Sokoine University of Agriculture in Tanzania (1973-92) where he held various senior management positions, including Deanship of the Faculty of Forestry and Nature Conservation. He also served as Chief Technical Advisor and visiting professor at Chittagong University in Bangladesh under FAO/UNDP, and was the first Executive Secretary of The African Network for Agriculture, Agroforestry and Natural Resources Education (ANAFE). He has written extensively on forestry, agricultural and natural resources education and research. In 2000 he was admitted as an International Fellow of the Swedish Academy of Agriculture and Forestry (KSLA).
At the World Agroforestry Centre, Prof. Temu is responsible for the overall vision, strategy and management of partnerships. He undertakes planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting on corporate partnership activities and positioning the Centre in the context of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research’s Science and Partnerships Council and other global institutions. Much of his work involves strengthening collaboration with sister CGIAR centres, scrutinizing agreements, initiating and supporting joint resource mobilization with partner organizations, strengthening linkages with regional initiatives (such as CAADP and the Great Green Wall for Sahel) and collaboration with regional/sub-regional institutions (such as FARA, ASARECA, CORAF, CATIE, ASEAN, ECOWAS, COMESA and EAC).
Rita Mulinge
Administrative Assistant
Rita Mulinge has extensive experience in managing graduate student fellowships, organizing short courses and financial and administrative procedures and logistics. Before joining the World Agroforestry Centre, she worked as a secretary with a range of national organizations in Kenya.
Ms Mulinge is the curator for the partnerships database. She is responsible for updating, extracting and sharing information as needed. She systematizes and manages all partnership records, including agreements. She controls the management of partnership finances and provides logistical and administrative support to the partnerships office and consultants. Her work also includes streamlining appointments, communication and arranging all partnership events, such as workshops and meetings.
